Charles Ray Swink, 64, of Rhodhiss, passed away on Monday, February 6, 2017 at Caldwell Hospice & Palliative Care. He was born in McDowell County on March 4, 1952 to the late Rassie Swink, Sr. and Texie Webb Swink. He was married to Nancy Brooks Swink of the residence. Ray was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a volunteer fireman with the Rhodhiss Fire Department and he worked in maintenance for the North Carolina Department of Corrections. He was an avid four-wheeler, loved traveling to the mountains, being outdoors and he loved to go dove hunting and fishing. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Paul Swink and Bobby Swink and his sister, Judy Swink Duckworth. Other than his wife, Ray is survived by his daughter, Dawn Eads of Hurricane, WV; brothers, Rassie Swink, Jr. and wife, Jane of Drexel; Jerry Swink of Drexel; Kenneth Swink of Morganton; sister, Shirley Fulbright and husband, Douglas of Caser, NC; four grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of Ray’s life will be held at Union Grove Baptist Church on Friday, February 10, 2017 at 3:00 PM with Pastor Sam Craven, Pastor Jeff Lambert, Pastor Don Ingle and Pastor Dean Gurley officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service on Thursday, February 9, 2017 from 6:00 until 7:30 PM.
