Ray Stephenson Lenoir, NC- Ray Douglas Stephenson, age 69, of Draco Road, Lenoir, passed away on Wednesday, February 6, 2013. He was born on February 18, 1943 in Johnston County, NC to the late Lonnie Alonzo and Leona Brady Stephenson. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Jane Bryant and his good friend, Larry Looper, who died on October 31, 2012. Ray graduated from Clayton High School. He was the owner and operator of Unique Services in Wilmington, NC, from which he retired. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Granite Falls. Survivors include his wife Shirley Pilkenton Sapp; a brother James Stephenson and wife, Mary; four daughters, Vonda Mason, Cindy Baxendale; Julie Stephenson and Brittany Male; three sons-in-law, David Mason, James Baxendale and Tommy Male; grandchildren include Zachary and Caitlin Mason, Declan and Daphne Baxendale and Thomas Ray Male. Funeral services will be held at First United Methodist Church in Granite Falls on Saturday, February 9, 2013 at 2:00 PM with Reverend Howard Fleming officiating. Viewing will be held 2 hours prior to the service. Burial will be held at Blue Ridge Memorial Park. Serving as pallbearers are: James Bryant, Derek Richardson, Alvin Williams, Joey Lutz, Sam Erby and Steve Downey. Honorary pallbearers are: Louis Cannon, Robert Stewart, David Richardson, and Herbert Miller. Memorials may be made to: First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 412, Granite Falls, NC 28630.
