Ray Hice

April 12, 1953 — December 18, 2020

Ray E. Hice went home to be with the Lord on December 18, 2020 in Hudson, NC. Ray was born on April 12, 1953 in Hudson, NC to the late Margret and Dal Hice. He was the beloved husband of Crystal (McDade) Hice. Ray was a kindhearted, gentle man who loved his family above all else. He loved to spend his time outside on his back porch with his cats or take his classic ‘73 Mustang out to car shows any time the weather was nice. Everyone knew that they could always call on Uncle Ray if they needed anything fixed or wanted to have a cookout by the pool. No matter what anyone needed, Uncle Ray was there for everyone and always made his home a home for those who needed it. Ray loved holidays, but Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas were his favorites. He used to love throwing Halloween parties when his daughter Amanda was young and was known for having the best home run haunted trail in the area. He made a family tradition of visiting Sam’s Nursery Christmas Tree farm every year after Thanksgiving dinner. He carried and expanded this tradition over the years and was able to bring more and more family with him to pass on the tradition. Ray was a faithful member of Cajah’s Mountain Baptist Church.Ray was deeply loved by all who knew him and will be deeply missed. Ray is survived by his loving wife Crystal Hice, his beloved daughter Amanda Hice and fiancé Sean Plane, his loving niece Jessica Robinson and husband Donnie Robinson, his niece Sydney Roberts, his great nieces Ariel and Peyton Robinson, his brother Tommy Hice and wife Debbie, his sister Donna Hice and niece Chrissy Hice Fowler as well as many loving nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held on Sunday, December 27, 2020 at 3:00 pm at Cajah’s Mountain Baptist Church (2145 Connelly Springs Rd. Lenoir, NC 28645).
