Rev. Ralph Staton The Reverend Charles Ralph Staton, 87, of Lenoir passed away Monday, March 9, 2015 at Hospice of Caldwell County.Ralph was born on September 27, 1927 in Avery County to the late Charles and Mae Lambert Staton.In addition to his parents, a sister, Juanita Staton Phillips, and a son, Kenneth Ralph Staton, preceded him in death. Rev. Staton attended Fruitland Bible Institute and spent his life serving as a minister to numerous churches in North Carolina.His pastorates included:Lakeview Baptist Church, Hudson; Rocky Springs Baptist Church, Collettsville; Rufus Baptist Church, Collettsville; Buffalo Cove Baptist Church, Buffalo Cove Community; Wilkies Grove Baptist Church, Hickory; Oak View Baptist Church, Kings Mountain; Gethsemane Mission, Lenoir, and Calico Mission, Lenoir. Married for 66 years to the former Ruby Farthing of Lenoir, they have one son, Rev. Michael Staton and wife, Donna, of Newton; Daughter-in-law, Becky Staton Sanderson of Rock Hill, SC; four grandchildren, Cynthia Staton Spruill, Mark Staton, Steven Staton and Leah Staton Niglio; and six great grandchildren, Evelyn Spruill, Jessica Spruill, Syler Staton, Sterling Staton, Liliana Niglio, and Gustavo Niglio.A brother, Bruce Staton, and two sisters, Clara Lawrence and Libby McCall, also survive Rev. Staton. A service to celebrate the life of Rev. Staton will be held Thursday, March 12, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Whitnel, where Rev. Staton was a member. Rev. Steve Hedgecock and Rev. Dale Fisher will officiate.Interment will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery.The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6:00-7:30 p.m. at Evans Funeral Service in Lenoir.Serving as pallbearers are family members:Keith Duggar, Terry Duggar, David Farthing, Gary Lawrence, and Donald Wilson.
