Lenoir, NC – Mr. Ralph Kenneth Hall, age 91, of Lenoir, passed away Saturday, June 20, 2015 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care in Hudson.Born March 10, 1924 in Caldwell County, he was a son of the late Major Floyd and Ada Bishop Hall and the wife of Doris Honeycutt Hall to whom they had shared 63 years of marriage. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Marjorie Teimbach and two brothers, Jack and Charles Hall. Mr. Hall was retired as owner/operator of Hall & Underdown Heating and Air.He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II.He entered the Army at the age of 17 as a U.S. combat engineer.He served in the European Operations in England, France, Belgium, Holland and Germany and the Pacific Operations in the Philippines and Japan.He received a Purple Heart in Belgium as he was hit with shrapnel during Battle of the Bulge and received four bronze stars for major battles. Mr. Hall was a member of Lower Creek Baptist Church where he had served as an usher and was an active member of the Men’s C-3 Sunday School Class. Surviving other than his wife Doris is his daughter, Patti Cribbins and husband Paul of Valle Crucis; his son, Gregory Kenneth Hall and wife Sarah of Cullowhee; brother, Jerry Hall and wife Marilyn of Fayetteville; sisters, Jewel Winkler of Asheville; Nicki King of Atlanta; Betty Tomsic of Jacksonville, FL; five grandchildren, Kristen Rigau, Abigail Nickels, Elisabeth Hall, Jakob Sjostrand, Anders Sjostrand and 2 great-grandchildren, Maylin Rigau and Milo Nickels. A celebration of Mr. Hall’s life will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at Lower Creek Baptist Church with Reverend Larry Gilbreath officiating.Inurnment will follow in the Church Cemetery with Military Rites. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 10 until 11, one hour prior to the service in the Church Fellowship Hall.
