Perry James Lail

Hudson, NC- Mr. Perry ?Pete? Lail, age 85, of Hudson died on April 24, 2010 at Palliative Carecenter & Hospice of Catawba Valley. Mr. Lail was born January 31, 1925 in Caldwell County to the late Mack Daniel and Minnie Belle Parlier Lail. He was the husband of Sarah Bumgarner Lail, to whom he was married 57 years. Mr. Lail was a member of Dudley Shoals Baptist Church. Pete was self employed and worked many years in furniture sales. He was a Navy veteran who served during WWII, and was part of D-Day, the invasion of Normandy, on June 6, 1944. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Harold D. Lail. In addition to his wife Mr. Lail is survived by two sons, Randy Lail and wife Judy of Lenoir, and Greg Lail and wife Patty of Granite Falls; four grandchildren, Cole Hudgens and wife Natalie of Holschton, GA, Barrett Lail of Lenoir, and Matthew Lail and Jacob Lail of Granite Falls; three sisters, Berlene Jarvis, Mary Teague, and Catherine Hefner, all from of Bethlehem, NC; one brother, Buster Lail of Granite Falls; he is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. A funeral service for Mr. Lail will be held on Monday, April 26, 2010 at 4:30 PM at the Dudley Shoals Baptist Church. Officiating will be Pastor Ron Winkler, Pastor Don Ingle, and Pastor Randy Smith. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be his sons and grandsons. The family will receive friends on Monday, April 26, 2010 from 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM at the Dudley Shoals Baptist Church.
