Pearlee Carlton Shipley

Pearlee Shipley Lenoir, NC-  Mrs. Pearlee Carlton Shipley, age 71, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at Caldwell Memorial Hospital. She was born in Watauga County on September 26, 1941 to the late Gaither W. Carlton and Lucy Robbins Carlton. She was married to William Howard Shipley of the residence for 50 years. Mrs. Shipley attended South Lenoir Church of God for many years. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Vaughn Carlton, sisters, Violet Hamby and Rosalee Watson; brother-in-law, Doc Watson and nephew, Merle Watson. Other than her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Nina Hicks and husband Gerald; son, Danny Shipley; daughter, Tammy Shipley; brother, Jay Carlton; sisters, Marlene Marley and Irene Lewis; grandchildren, Megan Franklin, Madison Shipley, Amber Johnson, Leif Hicks and Tabitha Hicks; great-grandchildren, Elijah Johnson, Jeremiah Johnson, Mackenzie Johnson, and Angelica Johnson. A celebration of Mrs. Shipley’s life will be held at South Lenoir Church of God on Friday, February 1, 2013 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Ernest Bowes and Pastor Tony Harris officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service in the David Greene Cemetery in Deep Gap, NC. The family will receive friends in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service on Thursday, January 31, 2013 from 7:00 until 8:30 PM.
