Paul James Johnson

Lenoir, NC- Mr. Paul James Johnson, age 86, of Lenoir, passed away Friday, July 20, 2012 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care in Hudson. Born May 21, 1926 in Wilkes County, Mr. Johnson was a son of the late William C. and Ennis Johnson and the wife of Mrs. Virginia D. Johnson to whom they shared 44 years of marriage. Mr. Johnson was a Sgt. In the U.S. Army during World War II and worked as a farmer and in the furniture industry. He was an active member of Cajahs Mountain Baptist Church. Other than his wife, he is survived by 2 daughters, Barbara Absher and husband Tony; Tammy White and husband Rod; one son, Reverend James Paul Johnson and wife Debbie; one step-daughter, Judy Woods and husband Granville, all of Lenoir; 2 sisters; one brother; 5 grandchildren, Shane Absher, Caleb White, Jim Woods, Ethan Johnson and Brandy Johnson and 4 great-grandchildren, Ryleigh Hicks, Abbi Woods, Kaitlyn Handy and Olivia Woods. A celebration of Mr. Johnson's life will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, July 22, 2012 at Cajahs Mountain Baptist Church with Reverend Doug Woody and Reverend James Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Park with Military Honors. Pallbearers will be: Scott Winters, Jim Paisley, David Redman, Paul Wilson, Glenn Carroll and Bill Norris.
