Paul Evert Handy

Paul Evert Handy passed away on Monday, December 2, 2019 surrounded by family. Paul was born on August 19, 1936 to the late Brady and Dellar Hincher Handy of Wilkes County as one of 10 children.He is preceded in death by his mother and father, as well as siblings; Lou Handy Absher, Dean Handy, Geno Handy, Guy Handy, John Handy, and Pedro Handy. Paul is survived by two children:Anita and Terry, his grandchildren:Sarah and husband David, Emily and husband Tyler, Kaitlyn and husband Nick, Kyle and Kadin.His great-grandchildren include Nathan, Andie Mae, Sadie and Tate.His brother Gar and wife Clara, sisters Faye and Oza along with many nieces and nephews. Of the many things Paul loved, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the biggest part of his life.Paul also held a special love for two poodles, Chloe and Millie. Paul worked in the furniture industry and made a living as a very talented upholster.In his later years, he would greet customers at Food Lion with his contagious smile while helping stock shelves and bag groceries.He enjoyed meeting new people and loved staying busy outdoors.Paul loved to play golf in which he won many awards and was an avid hunter in his younger years.Paul will be missed by those who loved him most. A graveside service for Mr. Handy will be held on Tuesday, December 3, 2019 at 2:00 pm at Blue Ridge Memorial Park.Officiates will be Pastor Daren Smart and Pastor Steve Hedgecock.
