Patricia "Patti" Brittain passed away unexpectedly on Friday, January 11, after a brief illness. A resident of Lenoir since age five, she was well known in the community through her longtime involvement with the Lenoir Service League and Yokefellow Ministries. Patti was also known for her dedication to the former Lenoir High School and was affectionately known as the "Torchbearer for the Class of '64". She enjoyed shagging and line dancing and was always heading for the dance floor when the music had a good beat. She cherished her family and is survived by her husband Benett (Benny) Brittain of the home; son Matthew (Matt) Johnson and wife Annemarie of Winston-Salem; daughter Margaret (Meg) Whitaker and husband Brian of Clover, SC; son John Spencer of Statesville and stepson Eddie Brittain of Hickory. She is also survived by her sister Margaret (Peggy) Saylor Smith of Myrtle Beach, SC; sister-in-law Janet Muir and husband Jim of Lenoir; grandchildren Jemma and Evan Johnson; Lance, Robbie and Corey Brittain; niece Ashley Arnold; and nephews Reeves Skeen and Craig and Kyle Warlick. Patti was preceded in death by her parents James (Jim) and Dorothea (Bunny) Saylor. The family will receive visitors from 3:00 - 4:30pm on Monday, January 14 at Evans Funeral Service, with a memorial service immediately following, the Rev. Parker T. Williamson officiating. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to Hospice of Caldwell County and the Lenoir Service League.
