Mrs. Paralee Elaine Helton Craig, age 64, of Lenoir, went home to be with her Lord Jesus Christ, Tuesday, January 24, 2012. Born November 26, 1942 in Caldwell County, Mrs. Craig was a daughter of the late Theodore Lee and Erma Day Helton. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Dorcus Helton Hartley, Betty Helton Wilson and Hazel Pauline Helton and two brothers, Donald Lee Helton and Dwight Douglas Helton. She is survived by her loving husband Richard of the home; daughters April Moya and husband Carlos of Washington, DC and Lisa Craig Krieger and husband David of Monroe, NC and three beloved grandchildren, Ashley, Dustin, and Hannah of Monroe, NC; two sisters, Irene Helton Brown and Lori Helton Crump & husband Roger; three brothers, Larry Helton & wife Linda, Roger Helton and Harold Helton & wife Brenda and brother in law Rodney Wilson; special lifelong friends, AV and Patricia Soots; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. Paralee is a member of Mountain Grove Baptist Church and spent 25 years prior teaching Sunday school at Lenoir Community Church where she also sang in the Southernaires Choir. She was employed at Bernhardt Furniture in the Tech Center for 35 years prior to her illness. She enjoyed sewing, crafts, gardening, playing the piano, and spending time with family and friends. Paralee was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother and loved by all those who knew her. A celebration of Paralee̢۪s life will be held 3:00pm on Saturday, January 28, 2012 at Evans Funeral Service, officiated by Rev. R.J. Lovins, Rev. Garry Lovins, Rev. Bobby Pritchard, and remarks by Ron Beane. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 2:00 to 3:00pm prior to the Celebration of Life Service. Burial will immediately follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Park. Serving as pallbearers will be Chad Powell, Mark Powell, Carlos Moya, Kenneth Brown, Bryan Helton, Scott Helton, Dustin McLean, and Travis Craig. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be members of the Baton Ruritan Club. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorials be made to Caldwell County Hospice and Palliative Care, 902 Kirkwood Street, Lenoir, NC 28645.
