Pamela Sue Pack

October 1, 1964 — February 22, 2024

Pamela Sue Couey Pack, 59, of Gamewell, North Carolina passed away at Caldwell UNC Health on February 22, 2024 after complications from pneumonia. Pam was a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend, and her loss is huge to her family.

Pam was born in Orange County, Florida on October 1, 1964 to the late Johnny Couey and Betty Jane Lawson Braddock. Pam also lived in Whitetop, Virginia as a child, but she spent the majority of her childhood in Ashe County in the neighborhoods of Buffalo Meadows and Nathan’s Creek.  As an adult she lived in Wilkes County for a short while, but mostly lived in the Gamewell Community of Caldwell County, just outside of Lenoir, North Carolina.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her beloved dog Random, her Uncle Vernie Farmer, and cousins David and Edna Mae King of Princeton, West Virginia.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 37 years, Jackie Pack of Gamewell; Daughter, Misty Hartzog (Bryan) and Granddaughters, Hannah and Rebecca of Millers Creek; Sister, Tammy Barnes (Timothy) of McGrady; Niece, Kayla (Cody) and great-niece, Eleanor “Ellie” Watson of Morganton; Other members of the Pack Family, including Ricky, Charles “Alan,” Susie “Sue,” Kathryn “Kat,”Anthony “Tony,” Summer, and Cloey (Nate); Cousin, Carol King Evans (Jim) and her children David, Isabella “Izzy”, and Lydia (Adam), along with all of her other Princeton, West Virginia Family; and her adored dog, Journey.

Pam loved Classic Rock and Classic Country music, driving (especially her Trans Am and Jimmy), dancing, reading Chicken Soup books, Guideposts, and The Hunger Games; watching Twilight, playing cards, crafting, snowmen, horses, and traveling, especially to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Seeing snow always made her really happy, her favorite color was red, and she had a particular fondness for Sam Elliot. She loved Christmas and the Christmas Spirit, and would spend days in the kitchen baking cookies and making fudge for everyone that she loved while wearing bells on her shoes.

She spoke often of her dreams of being a long-haul trucker, traveling the country, and seeing the leaves in New England.

Pam’s bright red hair matched her fiery, stubborn, and wild personality, but nothing could compare to the love and pride that she felt for her family and friends.  She will be missed beyond words.

A memorial service will take place on Sunday, March 3, 2024 at Evans Funeral Home in Lenoir, NC beginning at 11 a.m. with a receiving of friends at 10 a.m.  The burial will take place at Blue Ridge Memorial Park following the service.

The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Foothills Canine Rescue, 220 Joycetown Church Rd SW, Lenoir, NC 28645 to celebrate her love of dogs and the care she felt they deserved.
