Oscar Alvin Brooks

Oscar Brooks Granite Falls – Mr. Oscar Alvin Brooks, age 91, passed away on Wednesday, February 12, 2015 at Grace Hospital. Mr. Brooks was born in Caldwell County on August 29, 1923 to the late John E. Brooks and Etta Mull Brooks. He was a faithful, charter member of Union Grove Baptist Church where he was active for many years. Mr. Brooks worked in the furniture industry most of his life and retired from Singer Furniture. Other than his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Keller Brooks, four brothers and one sister. He is survived by his daughter, Nancy Brooks Swink and husband, Rayof Rhodhiss; his close friend, Lucille Townsend and several nieces, nephews and close family members. A celebration of Mr. Brooks life will be held at Union Grove Baptist Church on Sunday, February 15, 2015 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Sam Craven, Pastor Jeff Lambert and Pastor Tony Greer officiating. Pallbearers will be Josh Craven, Jonathan Craven, Dale Shook, Marshall Williams, Jimmy Hamby and Benny Walsh. Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Keller and Mike Norris. The family will receive friends in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service on Saturday, February 14, 2015 from 6:00 until 7:30 PM. The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers memorials be sent to Union Grove Baptist ChurchYouth Ministry, 1808 Union Grove Road, Lenoir, NC 28645.
