Lenoir, NC- Mr. Ora Van Wallace, age 92, of Lenoir, died Tuesday, January 15, 2008 in Gateway Nursing Center, of Lenoir. Born January 20, 1915 in Wilkes County, Mr. Wallace was a son of the late Noah Hampton and Dora Dula Wallace and the husband of Louise C. Wallace of 67 years. Mr. Wallace retired from years of work in Groceries and Furniture, and was a member of First Baptist Church of Hudson. Surviving other than his wife, are his children, Shelby Jean Griffin, Van J. Wallace and wife Peggy, Lonnie Dorman Wallace, and wife Sandra, Ginger W. Crisp and husband Brian, Scottie W. Shaver and husband Nick. Grandchildren are Susan Griffin Deal, Jeffery R. Griffin, David R. Griffin, Reggie Wallace, Clay M. Crisp, Brianna Lawson, Ashley K. Hamilton, and Karey E. Shaver. Great Grandchildren are Michael Zimmer, Meredith Rader, and Ethan Rader. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by 8 brothers and sisters; Rom Wallace, Howard Wallace, Matthew Wallace, Ray Wallace, John Wallace, Lila Wallace Phillips, Frances Wallace Calhoun, and Lou Ella Wallace Barlow. Mr. Wallace treasured mostly his relationship to God, his devotion to his family and special moments that he shared with his grandchildren and great- grandchildren. During his 67 years of marriage to Louise, in the later years their activities included working with Louise in the garden, growing wonderful vegetables that they shared with family and friends. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Saturday, January 19, 2008 at First Baptist Church Hudson with Reverend Dr. Wade Dellinger officiating. Burial will follow in Sardis Cemetery of Hudson, N.C. The family will receive friends at First Baptist Church Hudson on Friday, January 18, 2008 from 7 until 9 PM. Pallbearers will be: Sherrill German, Doug Story, Jerry Crump, Paul Embler, Ralph Kincaid, and Nelson Watson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jeffery Griffin and Clay Crisp.
