Norris Nelson Dillard

Lenoir, NC- Mr. Norris Nelson Dillard, age 67 of Lenoir, passed away Friday, September 26, 2014 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care in Hudson.Born December 8, 1946 in Caldwell County, Mr. Dillard was a son of the late Rhonda McCoy Dillard and the late Annie Ruth Pope Hollar. Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Diane Dillard and step-father, Thomas Dale Hollar. He was a member of Laytown Baptist Church and had worked as a division manager for Broyhill Furniture Industry.He loved to hunt and fish and enjoyed shooting sports.But he will be best remembered as being the rock of his family. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Norma Jean Wilson Dillard; 2 sons, Travis Dillard and wife Teresia of Lenoir; Bryan Dillard of Lenoir; 2 brothers, Ned Earnest Dillard and wife Barbara; Troy McCoy Dillard and wife Teresa, all of Lenoir; 2 sisters, Donna Dillard Frye and husband Jerry of Lenoir; Debra Dillard Simmons and husband Chuck of Holly Springs; 5 grandchildren, Cody, Zachary, Hunter, Caleb and Zoey. A celebration of Mr. Dillard’s life will be held 4:00 PM Monday, September 29, 2014 in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service with Reverend Roger Beck and Reverend Jim Lee officiating.Burial will follow in Laytown Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday from 3:00 until 4:00 PM, one hour prior to the service. Pallbearers will be:Cody Dillard, Zachary Dillard, Hunter Dillard, Caleb Dillard, Gary Bryant and Ricky Pope. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorials be made to Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care, 902 Kirkwood Street, Lenoir, NC 28645.
