Norman "Bill" Lester Greene

Norman “Bill” Lester Greene, 80, of Lenoir, passed peacefully on November 12, 2023.  Bill was born to the late Ethel Hollar and Arnold Greene on July 23, 1943.

He is preceded in death by his siblings; Fate, “Midge”, “Bob”, and his daughter Norma.  He is survived by his sister Margaret, daughters, Lorrie and Alice.  He leaves behind many loved ones and joins many others in Heaven.  Bill served in the Military as an artillery soldier pre-Vietnam.  After being honorably discharged, he worked for the city of Lenoir, where he retired after 33 years of service.  “PawPaw” Bill will be remembered as a humble and simple man.  Although small in stature, his shoes could be filled by few.  He was a friend to all, offering a listening ear and a smile to warm their heart.  Bill was referred to, “As the best of the bunch”.  He was a pillar of strength for his family and friends.  He led by his faith and was a loyal servant of God.  Other characteristics that family and friends valued were his wittiness, generosity, and selflessness.

There will be a visitation at Evans Funeral Service on Friday, November 17, 2023, at 10:00 AM with a service to celebrate the life of Bill Greene at 11:00 AM with Pastor Scott Philyaw officiating.  Burial will follow at Littlejohn United Methodist Church in Lenoir.
