Norma Jean Barnes

Lenoir, NC- Mrs. Norma Jean Johnston Barnes, age 68 of Lenoir, passed away Friday, February 28, 2014 at Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory. Born December 21, 1945 in Caldwell County, Mrs. Barnes was a daughter of the late Everette and Ella Mae Pendergrast Johnston and the wife of Mr. Billy Gene Barnes of the home. She was a homemaker and a member of New Haven Baptist Church. Other than her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Pete Johnston. Surviving other than her husband is her son, Billy Allen Barnes and wife Charlene of Collettsville; daughter, Shelia Renee Deiotte and husband Gerry of California; 2 sisters, Judy Harris and husband Travis of Wilkesboro, Mary “Tootie” Fleming and husband Ray of Granite Falls; 4 Grandchildren, Brittany, Megan, Paul and Erin and 1 Great-Grandchild, Evelyn. A celebration of Mrs. Barnes’ life will be held 2:00 PM Monday, March 3, 2014 in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service with Reverend Lonnie Lackey and Reverend Dewey Bristol officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Monday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM, one hour prior to the service. Pallbearers will be: Daniel, Greg, Mark, Tim, “Bo” and Rick.
