Nick Robert Hendrix

On August 5, 2023, Nick Robert Hendrix passed away after a strenuous battle with cancer. Nick was born on February 9 in 1961.  During his life, he enjoyed watching football, fishing, and spending time with his family, especially with his grandchildren Korbin, Asher, and Zaida.  Nick wore many hats and had many titles in his life, but that of “Papaw” was his favorite.  Nick was a giver and would do anything for anyone, but he would move mountains for his grandkids.

Nick is survived by: his wife of 37 years, Lori; their three sons, Matthew, Dylan, and Garrett; their daughters-in-law, Tabitha and Kalyn; their grandchildren, Korbin, Asher, and Zaida; his sisters, Kathy Campbell and Becky Plyler; and his father, Junior Hendrix.  Nick was preceded in death by his mother, Vivian Crotts Hendrix.  “Uncle Nick” is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews.

There are many lessons to be learned from Nick and how he lived his life, but those that rise above the rest are: (1) show up for others and (2) never take yourself too seriously.  Nick was generous and reliable–if someone needed him, he was there.  He will be remembered by so many for the time that he showed up when it felt like no one would.  And when Nick showed up, there was no doubt that he’d make you laugh.  Nick always knew how to bring levity and joy to even the most disheartening situations.

A reception honoring Nick’s life will be held at Evans Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 9th, from 6-8pm.  A private family memorial will also be held at a later date.
