Nellie Louise Spears

Hudson, NC – Mrs. Nellie Calloway Spears, age 72, went home to be with the Lord on January 22, 2011 at Caldwell Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Spears was born in Caldwell County on March 27, 1938 to the late Robert and Bessie Rupert Calloway and was married to the late James Wayne Spears. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Floyd and Paul Calloway and James Byers and her sisters, Ollie Hollars, Ruth Norwood, and Jennie Smith. She is survived by her children, Jerry Spears and wife Wendy, Tommy Spears, Alan Spears and wife, Donna; and Diane Spears Harmon; her sisters, Agnes Sales, Florence Saunders, Ruby Gragg and her brother, Earl Calloway; grandchildren, Thomas Spears, Samantha Spears, Jerry Spears, Jr., Roger Harmon, Martha Rose, Ronnie Coffey, and Angel Spears; 8 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of Mrs. Spear’s life will be held at 3:30 PM on Friday, January 28, 2011 at East Hudson Baptist Church with Reverend David Crump and Reverend Roger Harmon officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be David Hollars, Dwayne Calloway, David Davis, Jeff Rose, Finley Watson, and Richard Owenby.  The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:30 prior to the service at East Hudson Baptist Church.
