Nancy “Louise” Icenhour of 3853 Wilkesboro Blvd, Lenoir, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2020. She is survived by three children, Randy Icenhour of Lenoir, JeffereyIcenhour of Lenoir, and Lori Allen and her husband, Roger Allen, Jr. of Belchertown, Massachusetts. Nancy also had the joy of six grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She is proceeded in death by her husband and love of her life, Boyd Icenhour and a beloved son, Michael Icenhour. Louise loved nothing more than her family. Being a mother to four children is difficult in the best of times, but no matter what the circumstances, good or bad, she always comforted and celebrated everyone through the lightest and darkest moments. Compassionate and gentle, she was loved by everyone who knew her and made everyone feel like family. Louise worked at Hammary furniture company from 1974 to 2000 and was well loved by everyone. She was always more than happy to lend advice and a helping hand to anyone who needed it, never asking for anything in return. She was proud to be an employee during the most successful years in the company’s history. She was happy to spend each day working and having lunch with her beloved Boyd. Louise spent much of her retirement tending to and feeding the neighborhood squirrels, who she referred to as her “babies”. She would watch in delight as they ate from her hand. She also loved her hummingbirds, watching them feed and flutter from her kitchen window and reading all she could about them. When winter came and they flew away, she had a huge collection of pictures, figurines, and books to keep her company until they returned in the spring. Kind, loving, forgiving and full of optimism no matter the circumstances, she will be loved and missed by everyone she touched. As Louise wished, her sons and daughter will have a private ceremony to honor her. Donations in Louise’s memory can be made to Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care or to Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org.
