Granite Falls- Nancy Woodruff Dula, age 81, passed away on Monday, May 20, 2019 at her residence. She was born in Caldwell County on August 17, 1937 to the late James Woodruff and Addie Winkler Woodruff. Nancy was a graduate of Appalachian State University earning her degree in education. She later retired from the Alexander School System after 32 years of teaching. Nancy was an outstanding basketball player at Lenoir High School and was later inducted into the Caldwell County Sports Hall of Fame. She was a loving grandmother to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Dula; great-grandson, John Ray Simpson, III; and her sister, Betty W. Vess. Nancy is survived by her daughters, Elaine Ashley and husband, Clay; Alisa Watson and husband, Tim; grandchildren, Bradley Ashley and wife, Ashley; Stephanie Simpson; Kristi Ogren and husband, Chris; William Watson and wife, Daryan; great-grandchildren, Skylar Hefner; Jadyn Cutter; Kayden Ashley; James Ogren; Austin Simpson; Makenzie Simpson; Dylan Ogren; Mason Simpson; and Axtin Ashley.
