Lenoir - Mote Alexander Ferguson, Sr. passed away on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at his home. Born March 14, 1942 in Caldwell County, Mote was a son of the late Marshall Tilley, Sr. and Augustine Ferguson Tilley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Jean Ferguson; brothers, P.W Ferguson; Tasco Ferguson and Eugene Ferguson. Survivors include his children, Mote Ferguson, Jr., and wife Melinda; Thomas Ferguson and wife, Crystal; Crystal Ferguson and husband, Carlton; and Wendy Ferguson; brothers, Marshall Tilley, Jr.; James Tilley; and Hosia Tilley and wife Rachel; sisters, Geraldine Ferguson Davidson; Joycetine Michaux; grandchildren, India Corpening, Michael McCaleb, Jonathan Ferguson, Wynton Horton, Tasha Ritch and Jasmine Utley; and 5 great-grandchildren; he is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. A memorial service celebrating Mote’s life will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service with Reverend Keith Banner officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the funeral home from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. The family would like to express a special thanks to Dwayne Miller and Tasha Ritch for taking care of Mote for the last six months of his life.
