Granite Falls – Miriam Louise Clay Herman, age 79, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, May 21, 2016. She was born in Catawba County on April 18, 1937 to the late Marshall and Louise Clay. She was a graduate of Fred T. Foard High School and a retired cafeteria worker. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Rhodhiss. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Farmer; grandson, Zachary Cullop; sister, Joan Benson and brother, Albert Clay. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Jerry Herman, daughters, Angela Franklin and husband Dale of Granite Falls, Vivian Speagle and husband, Joseph of Hickory; sisters, Jean Setzer and husband, Owen Ray of Cornelius; Judy Setzer and husband Dale of Claremont; Lynn Shugart of Newton; brothers, Marshall Clay, Jr. and wife, Sue of Hildebran; Bill Clay of George Hildebran; and Tom Clay and wife Faye of Hildebran; grandchildren, Joseph Moore, Alicia Curtis, Christopher Moore, Stephen Speagle, Shelby Cullop, Jordan Speagle, Justin Speagle, Jana Franklin and Jada Franklin; great-grandchildren, Landen Moore, Madalyn Moore, Colton Curtis, Kinley Moore, Camden Curtis, Kesleigh Curtis, Maisie Schwarz and Kenna Curtis. Mrs. Herman’s funeral service will be at First Baptist Church of Rhodhiss on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at 12:00 Noon with Pastor Rick Miller officiating.
