Mildred Badger Gragg

December 22, 1946 — July 3, 2011

Mrs. Mildred Gail “Mickey” Badger Gragg, 64, a loving wife, mother, Grammy, and sister met her Heavenly Father on Sunday, July 3, 2011, at the Palliative Care Center and Hospice of Catawba Valley after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. Born December 22, 1946 in Caldwell County, she was the daughter of the late Clyde Preston and Pauline Simmons Badger. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Billy Joe Badger; a beloved sister, Hattie Mae Badger Bolick; a brother-in-law, Kelsey Webb; and a sister-in-law, Fran Bell. Mrs. Gragg was of the Baptist faith, and drew upon her faith during her life and sickness. She loved her family and friends deeply, always putting the needs of others, especially her children, ahead of her own. But to all that knew her, the love she had for her grandchildren and the enjoyment she garnered from her time with them was the true joy of her life. She is survived by her husband, Malcolm Carlton Gragg Sr., of the home; a son, Malcolm C. “Buddy” Gragg Jr., and his wife Lori, of Concord; a daughter, Pauline “Beth” Propst, and her husband Rodney, of George Hildebrand; and her grandchildren, Emily, Gavin, Charlotte, Alex, and Sawyer. She is also survived by a sister, Martha Webb, of Lenoir; a brother, Guy Badger, and his wife Marty, of Huntersville; a brother Mike Badger, of Denver, NC; three sister-in-laws and their husbands; two brother-in-laws; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 6, 2011, in the chapel of Evans Funeral Service in Lenoir with the Reverends Carl Johnson and Terry Adkins officiating. The family will begin receiving friends at 3:00, with the funeral beginning at 4:00. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be her nephews. In lieu of flowers, it was Mrs. Gragg’s desire that memorials be made to the Palliative Care Center and Hospice of Catawba Valley, 3975 Robinson Road, Newton, NC, 28658. Her family would also like to extend their deepest gratitude to the many doctors and nurses who treated their loved one with such care and love, especially the Transitions nurses and those at the Hospice House; Dr. Todd Arensman and his staff at Valdese Family Practice; Dr. Richard Orlowsky of Carolina Oncology; and the caring nurses of Catawba Valley Medical Center. All of these caregivers eased the hardships and pain that she went through, and we are all very thankful for the care she received. Online condolences can be sent to www.evansfuneralservice.com. The Gragg family has entrusted funeral arrangements to Evans Funeral Service & Crematory of Lenoir.  PDF Printable Version
