Mr. Milas T. Laws, passed from death to life on Tuesday, January 21, 2020.The King changed his death sentence to life on February 6, 1972.He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Joseph Laws Sr. and Blanche Benfield Laws; two brothers, Kirk Laws and Joe Laws, Jr.; and a sister, Peggy Henson. Tim attended Kenworth Elementary, College Park Jr. High School and Hickory High School. He then attended CCC and TI where he studied accounting, business law and oral communication.He accepted a job with the state of NC where he received many Governors accommodations in his efforts to save taxpayers money.He also worked many sales jobs and also at Broyhill Industries as a foreman, warehouse and as a local truck driver.He was nominated to appear in Personalities of the South, 10th Anniversary Edition. He also wrote a short story which was printed in Tin Tub Baths and Out House Spiders. He is survived by his loving wife , Frances Townsend Laws; his daughter, Angela Joice Falls; three grandchildren, Mandi McCall (husband Toby), Brett Cockerham and Trey Cockerham; a great grandson, Michael Parnell III; a future great granddaughter, Bloom Cockerham; a great great nephew, Grayson Wilcox; he is also survived by numerous other relatives. A celebration of Milas’ life will be held on Saturday January 25, 2020 at 10:30 AM in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service with Reverend Waitsel Beardofficiating.Interment will follow the service in the Laurel Haven Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the funeral home from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM. In lieu of flowers the family request memorials made to Community Baptist Church.
