Michael “Mike” Lynn Anderson, age 61, of Lenoir went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, July 28, 2019 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care in Hudson after a battle with esophageal cancer. Born May 1, 1958 in Burke County, Mike was a son of the late Emmett “Pete” Jones and Margaret Greene Anderson.Mike was a member of the Hartland Baptist Church. The most important thing in Mike’s life was his family.Mike enjoyed fishing, going to the beach and grilling for his family and friends.Mike always had a smile on his face and never met a stranger.Mike served as past president of the Gamewell Optimist Club where he coached Basketball and Baseball.Mike was one of the first members to be on the Caldwell County Strike Force.Mike worked for the NC Department of Transportation.He also worked part time for NASCAR with the Monster Energy Series.He was a volunteer fireman with the Gamewell Fire Department in his younger days.Mike also worked with the NC Forest Service for a brief time. In addition to his parents, Mike was also preceded in death by a sister, Pat Sigmon; a sister in law, Elaine Anderson; his father in law, Bill Woods. Survivors include the love of his life of 29 years, Sandy Woods Anderson; his precious daughter, Logan McElyea (husband Michael); Brothers, Steve Anderson, Sonny Anderson (wife Helen), Jerry Anderson (wife Diane); his mother in law, Phyllis Woods; Mike is also blessed with numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. A celebration of Michael’s life will be held on Thursday, August 1, 2019 at 2:00 PM at the Hartland Baptist Church with Dr. Steve Parker and Dr. Todd Smith officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Chris Anderson, Jonathan Anderson, Monte Anderson, Wayne Townsend, Robert Everhart III and David Aldridge. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 31, 2019 at Hartland Baptist Church from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
