Lenoir, NC- Michael Jackson Hatley, age 63, passed away on Sunday, November 24, 2013 at his residence in Lenoir. Jack was born in Watauga County on April 27, 1950 to the late Robert Edward Hatley and Mattie Coeburn Hatley. He was married to Ira Lea Bristol Hatley. Jack was a loving father, PawPaw and friend who enjoyed spending time with his family and close friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Michael Hatley and brother, Dale Hatley. Other than his wife he is survived by his children, Bobby Hatley and wife, Debbie; Rachel Watts; Jeanette Carlton; Jackie Clark and husband, David; Jennifer Shelton and husband, Tommy; sisters, Greta Ecret; Carlene Wood and husband, David; Aileen Brown and Wanda Townsend and husband, Jerry; brothers, Donald Hatley and wife, Shirley; and Doug Hatley and wife, Eileen; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dennis Coeburn and Russell Coeburn who were always there for Jack. A memorial service will be held at Welcome Home Baptist Church on Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at 3:00 PM with Pastor Alden Wheeler and Pastor Brian Gragg officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 prior to the service.
