Melvina Conrad

Melvina Cannon Conrad of Hudson, NC went to her heavenly home on Friday, November 10, 2017 at College Pines health and Rehabilitation Center in Connelly Springs. She was a daughter of the late Leonard J. Cannon and Daisy Icenhour Cannon.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack “Dude” Conrad; and two sisters, Iva Lee Cannon Church and Chloe Cannon Presnell. Melvina was a retired nurse who spent most of her life loving and caring for her children and grandchildren.She loved spending time reading, cooking, playing games, going on picnics, trips to the mountains or beach, planting flowers and spending quality time with her family. Survivors include her son, Gregory Keith Conrad (wife Martha) of Bethlehem; a daughter, Jeannie Conrad Hollar (husband Wayne) of Lenoir; three grandchildren, Ryan Gregory Conrad (wife Ashley), Blair Hollar and Jayne Hollar; a sister, Ruby Hagaman of Watauga County; and a brother, Leonard “Red” Cannon of Lenoir. A celebration of Melvina’s life will be held on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at 4:00 PM at First Baptist Church of Hudson with Pastor Mack Jarvis, III officiating.Interment will follow in the Sardis Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday prior to the service from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Memorials can be made to Burke Hospice and Palliative Care at 1721 Enon Road, Valdese, NC28690.
