Rev. Melvin Maltba Lenoir – Rev. Melvin Maltba, 85, of Lenoir, passed away on November 18, 2018 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care in Hudson. Rev. Maltba was the son of the late Robert and Magrette Maltba of Caldwell County. Rev. Maltba over his life pastored three Baptist churches in Caldwell County; in addition to his pastoral career, Rev. Maltba worked at Hickory Chair. Rev. Maltba was married to the late Kathryn Maltba for 62 years. In addition to his wife and parents, Rev. Maltba is preceded in death by his sister, Marjorie Bumgarner and one son-in-law, Elden Smith. Rev. Maltba is survived by his son Dale Maltba, and wife Debbie, of Hudson and his daughter Deborah Smith of Hudson. He is survived by his brother, Bill Maltba and wife June of Hudson and his brother, Ray Maltba and wife Barbara of Taylorsville. Rev. Maltba is, also, survived a grandson, Brian Smith and wife Deanna of Asheville; and two great-grandsons, Isaiah and Noah Maltba. He leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, as well. There will be a service held for Rev. Melvin Maltba on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at Evans Funeral Chapel at 2:00; officiated by the Rev. Ed Warren and Rev. Lonnie Bell and Rev. Ron Burgette. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be immediately after the service at Blue Ridge Memorial Park.
