Lenoir, NC- Mr. Max Kenneth Roberts, age 88, of Lenoir, died Sunday, January 10, 2010 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care. Born during the Christmas season, he was a son of the late James Walter and Florence Fox Roberts and the husband of Mrs. Lora Trivette Roberts of the home. Mr. Roberts attended Lenoir-Rhyne College until he was drafted in to the U.S. Army during World War II. He had retired from the insurance industry, was a member of Mt. Herman United Methodist Church and most recently attended Whitnel United Methodist Church. He enjoyed gardening and was a member of the American Legion in Hudson. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Edith Roberts Smith, and three brothers, James Ivey Roberts, Ralph Lee Roberts and Boone Hampton Roberts. Surviving other than his wife are his two God-Daughters, Rita Boyette Joines and husband Jeff of Lenoir; Barbara Boyette Gentry of Gamewell; one sister, Stella Marie Roberts of Lenoir; his best friend, Don Williams and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. A celebration of Mr. Roberts? life will be held 12:00 PM Wednesday, January 13, 2010 in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service with Reverend Leon Morrow officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 11:00 until 12:00, one hour prior to the service at Evans Funeral Service & Crematory. Pallbearers will be: Kenneth Roberts, Basil Roberts, Kenny Roberts, Steven Roberts, Norman Staines and Don Williams.
