Lenoir, NC –  Maude Holsclaw, age 91, of Lenoir, died Monday, January 31, 2011 at her home. Born October 19, 1919 in Caldwell County, Mrs. Holsclaw was a daughter of the late Ella Smith Nelson and Edgar Nelson, and the wife of the late Leo Holsclaw. Other than her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by 5 sisters, Nellie Nelson, Bettina Johnson, Pauline Holloway, Ruth Haynes and Mary Wheeler; and 3 brothers, James Nelson, Ed Nelson, and John Nelson; Mrs. Holsclaw is survived by 5 sons, Jerry Holsclaw, Sr. and wife Debbie of Lenoir, Michael Holsclaw, Sr. and wife Pam of Lenoir, Leonard Holsclaw, Herbert Holsclaw and Robert Holsclaw, all of Lenoir; 4 daughters, Doris Holsclaw and Lois Byrd, both of Lenoir, Linda Heffner and husband Barry of Charlotte, NC and Pamela Poarch and husband Reggie of Morganton, NC; 3 sisters, Kathleen Sanders and Jean Hamby, both of Lenoir, and Helen Melton of Calhoun City, MS; 8 grandchildren, Jerry Holsclaw, Jr., Bradley Holsclaw, William Lanier, Chandra Byrd, Michael Holsclaw, Jr., Emily Wilkinson, India Watson and Shane Reese; 7 great-grandchildren, Christopher Byrd, Brittany Holsclaw, Sierra Holsclaw, Mackenzie Holsclaw, Zachary Holsclaw, Bryson Holsclaw, and Laci Holsclaw. A celebration of Mrs. Holsclaw’s life will be held at Temple Baptist Church, 1306 Old North Road, Lenoir, on Thursday, February 3, 2011 at 2:00 with Pastor Kevin Broyhill officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 prior to the service.
