Mattie Marie Phillips

Mattie Marie Phillips was born to the late Nellie Marie Phillips and Lewis Dula on August 5, 1956. She made her transition from her earthly body to her heavenly body on June 26, 2023.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Katie Phillips and brother Fredrick “Buddy” Phillips.

She is survived by her sisters, Sallie (Steve) Burgess of Lenoir, Gloria (Clarence) Cunningham of Clinton, Md., Anne (Rex) Sumlin of Lenoir, Nell Phillips of Lenoir, one brother Malcolm Phillips of Ellicott City, Md. And a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Mattie loved going to church and singing “Amazing Grace” and “Jesus Loves Me”.  She also loved coloring in her coloring books and playing with her stuffed animals and dolls.  She also loved eating hamburgers, French fries and drinking Coke.  She loved dressing up for the holidays.

Mattie was loved by everyone that came in contact with her. She was at Lenoir Healthcare for 48 years and during that time touched many lives. Her loving spirit was infectious and she loved giving and receiving hugs.  She will truly be missed by many.
