Matthew Stuart Winebarger, beloved husband, father, son, and friend, passed away on December 30, 2024, at the age of 39, after a courageous battle with cancer. Surrounded by his loving family, he peacefully went to be with the Lord, leaving behind a legacy of faith, love, and strength that will continue to inspire all who knew him. Born on August 14, 1985, in Lenoir, North Carolina, Matt was the youngest son of Regina and Keith Winebarger. From a young age, he demonstrated a deep sense of responsibility and compassion, qualities that shaped the man he became. As a son, he was devoted to his mother, always seeking to make her proud and offering support with unwavering loyalty. Matt’s greatest joy came from his family. He was a devoted husband to Brittany, with whom he shared 18 years of marriage. Together, they raised three beautiful children: Ashton (16), Keegan (13), and Stella (8). Matt's love for his children was immeasurable. He was their protector, teacher, and constant source of encouragement, always emphasizing the importance of faith, integrity, and hard work. He instilled in them the values that shaped his own life, and his legacy will live on in their hearts forever. Known for his unshakable faith in God, Matt faced his illness with remarkable grace and resilience. His deep belief in the Lord gave him the strength to endure even the most challenging days. Matt’s faith was his anchor, and he consistently shared his love for Christ with those around him, offering comfort and encouragement to friends, family, and strangers alike. Those who knew Matt remember him not only for his faith, but also for his infectious sense of humor, his genuine kindness, and his selfless nature. He had a way of making everyone feel seen and valued, and his quiet wisdom left a lasting impact on all who crossed his path. Matt is survived by his wife, Brittany, and their three children, Ashton, Keegan, and Stella. He is also survived by his mother and father, Regina and Keith Winebarger; his brother, Nick and sister- in -law, Channie. Grandparents, Larry and Earlene Winebarger, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends. A “Home Going” service to honor Matt’s life and legacy will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at Living Hope Church, 1890 Connelly Springs Rd, Lenoir, NC 28645. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Christian Construction Ministries, P.O. Box 1029, Granite Falls, NC 28630, a cause that was close to Matt’s heart, that helps those less fortunate. Though he is no longer with us, Matt’s faith, love, and unwavering strength will continue to inspire and guide us all. He is now in the arms of his Savior, where there is no more pain, only peace. His memory will live on forever in the hearts of all who loved him. “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
