Matthew Forte

Matthew Forte, 58, of Lenoir, passed away on Sunday, August 11, 2024.

He was born on August 14, 1965 to Luther and Shirley Forte.

Matthew is preceded in death by his sister, Paula Eugena Forte.

In addition to his parents, those left to cherish Matthew’s memory are his wife of 19 years, Laura Forte; children, Danielle Johnson (Josh), Tosha Drew (Cory), Kody Forte (Courtney), Aulbrey Greene (Logan); grandchildren, Arron, Eli, Malachi, Baylie, Gabe, Gannon, Milo, Briar, Alexis, Davanee, Ranger, Covan, Elkin; sister, Sharon Dula (Brian), Marianne Forte; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Matthew was the first combined liver and kidney transplant at Duke University.  June 29, 2024, was thirty years as a transplant survivor.

Matthew loved the outdoors.  He loved fishing and hunting.  Matthew was a family man, he loved his wife, children and grandchildren.  Anytime you were around Matthew, you were laughing.  He made everyone happy with his funny personality.  There are so many stories that can be told about Matthew, including the time he about shot his foot off, the time his daughter brought home a raccoon, and being kicked out of the bed by his grandchildren when they spent the night. Matthew could find a four-leaf clover no matter where he was.  He could spot them while he was driving his tractor and stop to pick them.  He took the name “Pawpaw” and “Fawfaw” very serious.  He was the best son, husband, dad, and PawPaw around.  Most of all, Matthew was a Christian man and loved the Lord.  There are no words that can describe how he will be missed by all that knew him and loved him.

A celebration of Matthew’s life will be held on Friday, August 16, 2024 at 5:00 PM with Pastor David Pollard at The Revealed Word Assembly, 1501 Underdown Ave SW Lenoir, NC 28645.
