Mrs. Mary L. Johnson White passed away on Monday, September 17, 2018 at the Brain Center Tate Boulevard Hickory. Mary was born on March 15, 1931.She is preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Paul S. White, two sons Ronnie White, Roger White; Her mother and step father, Bertha J. and Paul Herman. Survivors include her daughter, Pam W. Aycock; a life long dear friend, Russell Johnson; a very sweet daughter in law, Shirley Wyatt. Mary was a caring wife and mother.As her vocational choice, she selected and studied furniture design and sewing at Catawba Valley Community College with instructor Haywood Furley.With Mary’s keen eye for detail, color and texture, she opened her own interiors shoppe in her home called Mary’s Sewing Shoppe.Mary’s hobbies included cheering on her beloved Atlanta Braves, composing beautiful and unique floral arrangements, making the lightest and softest biscuits imaginable from scratch, gardening, canning, freezing her own homegrown vegetables and fruits. She was generous and giving woman spear heading fundraisers for Leukemia, Veteran’s groups and the less fortunate.With Mary’s wonderful sense of organization, she got things done. Heartfelt thanks go out to the caring staff of the Brian Center and also to the kind staff of Hospice of Lincoln County. In honor of Mary’s wishes, a private graveside service was held on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery.Funeral director Gary Sherrill of Evans Funeral Service officiated and also sang two of Mary’s favorite hymns, “Nearer My God to Thee” and “Let the lower lights be burning”. Memorials can be made to Hospice of Lincoln County. Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.evansfuneralservice.com.
