Lenoir, NC- Mrs. Mary Nell Hoffman Tallent, age 69, of Lenoir, died Friday, January 1, 2010 at Caldwell Memorial Hospital. Born May 5, 1940 in Caldwell County, Mary was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Lura Franklin Hoffman. Mary was a teacher?s aid for many years. Mary was a member of Flemings Chapel Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher and the pianist for a number of years. She is survived by her husband Kenneth Tallent of the home; one daughter and son- in -law, Marsha and Andy Collier of Lenoir; three sons, Eddie Kent Tallent of Virginia, Randy Scott Tallent of Lenoir, and Kenneth Evan Tallent of Gastonia; one half- brother, L.E. Hoffman of Texas; she is also survived by 4 grandchildren, one great- grandchild, and numerous other relatives. A celebration of Mary?s life will take place on Sunday, January 3, 2010 at 2:00 PM at the Flemings Chapel Baptist Church. Officiating will be Reverend Scott Shoffner and Reverend Lester Honson. Interment will follow the service in the Flemings Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 2, 2010 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Evans Funeral Service and Crematory.
