Mary Jane Smith

Mary Jane Smith, age 89, went home to be with Jesus on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at Shaire Center surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Caldwell County on March 21, 1932 to the late Joe and Lydia Correll Smith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, L.B (Ted) Smith and her only son, Timothy L. Smith; sisters, Ruth Helton; Naomi Clark; Willie Story; Belsia Story; and brothers, J.L. Smith and Bobby Smith. Mary Jane dearly loved her family, but most of all loved Jesus. She has given us many precious memories with her gift of making everyone feel loved and special. Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Deborah Bryant; Teddi Jane Davis; and Lee Anne Land; grandchildren, Tara Jane Hatton; Emily Cook and husband, Scott; Bethany Travis and husband, Scott Dunn; Tim B. Bryant and wife, Dianna; great-grandchildren, Sean and Cohen Bryant; Smith and Charlie Hatton; Evan Cook; Ella Jane and Elijah Travis; along with numerous other family members. The family will have a private celebration of Mary Jane’s life at Blue Ridge Memorial Park. The Lord is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear. Psalm 27:1. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or a charity of your choice.
