Mary Pilkenton

Mary Oliver Pilkenton, age 78, passed away on Monday, February 27, 2023 at Smoky Ridge Health & Rehab in Burnsville, NC. She was born in Caldwell County on September 15, 1944 to the late Paul H. Oliver and Ruth Hartley Oliver.

Mary began her working career at First Union National Bank and later spent the majority of accounting career at Thompson Medical Specialists in Lenoir.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Jerry Oliver; and niece, Tracy Oliver.

Mary is survived by her husband, Gary V. Pilkenton; sisters, Lois Oliver McCall and Carolyn Oliver Ford and husband, Gary; nieces, Emily Ford Hillis; Jayne Icenhour Stevens; nephews, Michael Icenhour; Greg McCall; Phillip McCall; Mark Oliver; and Steve Oliver.

A celebration of Mary’s life will be held in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Richard Irwin  officiating. Burial will immediately follow the service at Blue Ridge Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 prior to the service.
