Mary Moore Mast

Lenoir, NC- Miss Mary Moore Mast, age 91, of Lenoir, passed away on Friday, March 22, 2013 at Caldwell Memorial Hospital. Born April 14, 1921 in Bel Air, Maryland, she was a daughter of the late Claude Lenoir and Grace Moore Mast. She was a member of Yadkin Baptist Church since November 13, 1932 and was their oldest member. Mary was a school teacher at Happy Valley High School and Hibriten School for a total of 40 years. She graduated from ASU with a Bachelor of Science degree. She never married, nor had children, but considered all her school students as her children. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, James “Jim” Mast, Frank Mast, and David Mast; her sister, Lily Mast; and one niece, Sarah Mast Cornell. Survivors include five nephews, Charles Mast, Clarence “Edward” Mast, Claude Mast, Chris Mast, and Larry Mast; two nieces, Linda Mast Church and Shirlyn Mast Greene; she is also survived by numerous other relatives. A Celebration of Mary’s life will be held on Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at 2:00 PM at the Yadkin Baptist Church with Pastor Robert Livingston officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM prior to the service. Memorials may be sent to Yadkin Baptist Church at 2044 Roby Martin Road, Patterson, NC 28661.
