Mary Lee Banner Johnson

Mary Lee Banner Johnson, age 67, of Morganton, passed away Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston.She was born January 25, 1952 in Caldwell County to the late Joseph and Gracie Moore Banner.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Johnson; three children, Melinda Johnson, Edward Johnson and Louis Johnson Jr; two sisters, Kathy Banner Harshaw, Barbara Ann Banner and two brothers, Wallace C. Banner and Baby Boy Banner. Survivors include her son, Joseph Jomonte Banner; sisters, Gracie Banner Davidson and husband Ronald of Lenoir and Estella Horton of Charlotte; two brothers, James Earl Banner and Joseph Banner both of Lenoir; Uncle Billy Joe Moore of Charlotte; Aunt, Georgia Moore of Lenoir; two special friends, Ms. Della and Mr. Johnny Smith of Morganton and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends. Mrs. Johnson was a Christian Lady who loved going to church, enjoyed fishing, loved working her puzzle books, her Bojangle’s napkins, coffee and to socialize and never met a stranger.She was a Certified Nursing Assistant. Funeral services will be Saturday, September 28, 2019 at First Church of God in Lenoir at 1:00 PM conducted by Reverend Jerome Pearson.The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 1:00 PM one hour prior to the service at the church and at other times at the home of Sonya Banner, 104 Melody Lane, Lenoir.Burial will follow at Hood’s Creek Cemetery.
