Mary Heavner White

Lenoir, NC- Mrs. Mary Heavner White, age 81, passed away on Friday, April 26, 2013 at Caldwell Hospice. Mrs. White was born in Catawba County on January 24, 1932 to the late Claude and Minnie Heavner. She was married to Justin D. White of the residence for 30 years. She retired after 29 years as Assistant Clerk of Court of Catawba County. Mrs. White was an active member of College Avenue Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and worked with the Alpine Christmas Village. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, Chip Smith and wife Donna of Johnson City, TN; sisters, Margie Bowman and husband Harley of Hickory and Joyce Frye of Tuscon, AZ; grandsons, Jesse Smith and wife Amber of Lenoir and Drew Smith of Lenoir; great-granddaughter, Zoe Smith of Lenoir; 3 step-grandchildren; 7 step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A celebration of Mrs. White’s life will be held at 12:30 PM Monday, April 29, 2013 in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service with Dr. Chuck Brawley officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Hickory. The family will receive friends from 11:00 until 12:30 prior to the service.
