Mary Elizabeth Earhart

Lenoir, NC ? Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Earhart, age 100, died Friday, August 20, 2010 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care. Born May 20, 1910 in Rugby, Indiana, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Edith Galbraith Fishel and the wife of the late Leo Edwin Earhart who passed away in 1970. Other than her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Katheryn Slack. Mrs. Earhart was a member of the Rugby United Brethren Church in Rugby, Indiana. She worked as a bookkeeper for 50 years with Budweiser, National Brands and Burdines. Mrs. Earhart traveled around the world with her late husband who worked for Pan American Airlines for 25 years. She is survived by her son, Nathan Lee Earhart of Lake Placid, FL; her daughter, Edie Suddreth and husband Cliff of Lenoir; 5 grandchildren, Diane Mullener, Bob Earhart, Michael Culver, Joseph Culver and Kristi Culver; 17 great-grandchildren and 17 great-great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be conducted 2:00 PM Sunday, August 22, 2010 in the Moravian Cemetery in Hope, Indiana with Reverend Norman Wallace officiating.
