Lenoir – Mary McLean Crisp, age 79, passed away on Friday, October 16, 2020 at Wilkes Regional Medical Center. She was born in Caldwell County on December 7, 1940 to the late Leroy and Daisy Baker McLean. Mary loved to sew, particularly quilts, and work on many different kinds of crafts. She served as a volunteer for Caldwell Hospice for over 15 years. She loved her family and baking for her friends. Mary was a long-standing member of Setzer’s Gap Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, William Crisp; and her brothers and sisters. Mary is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Joy and Greg Soots, their children, Christy Soots, Jennifer Soots, and Morgan Soots-Goodlake (husband Jon); a daughter and son in law, Valarie and Jeff Summerow, and their son, Christopher; a daughter and son in law, Robin and Nick Nichols, and their children, Alison Roland (husband Rusty), Laura Nichols, Jonathan Maxwell, and Jonathan Hicks (wife Dawn) ; a daughter and son in law, Tina and Doug Robbins, and their daughter Hannah; other children include, Chris and Cyndi Helton and their children, Taylor, Grayce, and Graham Helton, Maureen Collins and her children, Matthew Collins and Beth Minton, Sandy Price and her children, Jessica Price, and Melissa Walsh; Tommy and Ruthie Helton, and their children, Cody, Christian, and Maleah Helton; and sister, Barbara Beard (husband James);19 great -grandchildren and 4 great-great- grandchildren. Extended family also includes Susan Corliss (husband Mike) and her daughter Sarah, William and Shannon Collins and their children, Abbie, Madeline, and Hailey. Our mother has touched the lives of many people during her life by being a mother, friend, teacher, Nanny, sister and mentor.If we have failed to mention you by name, just know that she loved you all. A celebration of Mary’s life will be held at Setzer’s Gap Church on Wednesday, October 21, 2020 at 3:00 PM with Pastor Ken Byerly officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 prior to the service.
