Mary Ida Cook

Lenoir, NC- Mary Ida Cook, age 71, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care in Lenoir. She was born April 26, 1942 in Caldwell County to the late Tom L. Smith and Mary Triplette Smith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Tommy Smith, Joe Smith and Eddie Smith. Mrs. Cook was a homemaker and a caregiver to her father, mother and brother. She was a member at College Avenue Baptist Church for 64 years. Survivors include her husband for 52 years, Doug Cook of the home; two sons, Tom Cook and wife Sherry of Hudson; and Lt. Col. Beau Cook and wife Teresa of Blowing Rock. She also leaves behind five wonderful grandchildren, Madison, Maya, Makena, Caleb and Sarah. A private funeral service will be held, followed by a memorial service at College Avenue Baptist Church at 12:00 on Tuesday, February 25, 2014.
