Hudson, NC – Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Wilson Bentley, age 84, passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at her residence. Mrs. Bentley was born in Burke County on June 20, 1927 to the late Charles Mack Wilson and Susan Cloer Wilson. She was of Pentecostal Holiness faith and was a member of South Caldwell Worship Center. Mrs. Bentley was a devoted Christian who lived her life serving the Lord joyfully. Her life was her testimony. She loved her family and was the sustaining force that kept her family strong and loving. When faced with a terminal illness she focused on her journey to soon be in the presence of her heavenly Father. Her family witnessed her peaceful transformation from this world into the loving arms of her Jesus. “We her family look forward to being with her again serving God once more as a family.†In addition to her parents she was preceded in death her infant son, infant granddaughter and 9 brothers, William Q, Charlie B., Fred G., Albert L., Johnnie J., Harry L., Robert E., Carl M. and Paul G. Wilson. She is survived by her son, Pastor Buford Pennell and wife, Karen; daughters, Susan Campbell, Mary Lee Campbell and husband, Charlie; Janice Austin and husband, Donnie; Jennifer Nichols and husband, Jim; one sister, Myrtle Fox; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great- grandchildren. A celebration of Mrs. Bentley’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 17, 2011 at South Caldwell Family Worship with Pastor Buford Pennell and Reverend Tommy Booth officiating the service. Interment will immediately follow the service at Belleview Cemetery. Mrs. Bentley’s grandsons and great- grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 prior to the service.
