Marvin Linburg Williford

February 22, 1940 — June 14, 2012

Marvin Linburg Williford passed peacefully into his savior and Lord Jesus Christ’s waiting arms on June 14, 2012 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care in Hudson, NC after unexpectedly being diagnosed with metastatic cancer. Contrary to his doctor’s previous statements, Gabriel was indeed at the gates of Heaven blowing his trumpet for Marvin. Mr. Williford was born on February 22, 1940 in Onslow County, NC the son of the late Marvin N. Williford and Emma Caroline Swinson Williford. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death this past January by his wife of 51 years, Wilma Jean Jenkins Williford, one grand-daughter, Harley Danielle Williford, four sisters, Peggy Williams, Erma Riggs, Edna Futrell and Earl Dean Futrell and three brothers, Noah (Joe) Williford, and twins Ronald and Donald Williford. Marvin was Baptist by faith. He attended Day3 Church in Granite Falls, NC and Crossroads Ministries in Lenoir, NC. He was a retired mechanic who could fix anything.  He never met a stranger here on earth, always extending a warm smile and a hearty handshake. Marvin lived by the motto that you should get along with and love everyone here on earth, otherwise how could possibly get along in Heaven. Survivors include two daughters, Angela Faith Williford Mills of Lenoir, NC and Babetta Hope Williford Glasco of Front Royal, VA., one son, Mark Glenn Williford of Lenoir, NC., one brother, David Charles Williford of Breman, GA., one sister, Sadie Williams of Kinston, NC, six grandchildren, Destiny Faith Williford, James David Mills, Stephen Tyler Mills, Bradley Scott Williford, Justin Wayne Glasco and Nicholas William Glasco. The family will receive friends at Evans Funeral Home and Crematory on Saturday, June 16, 2012 from 11:00 a.m. until noon, followed immediately by a graveside celebration of Marvin’s life at Blue Ridge Memorial Park in the Rosewood section. In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be made to Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care in Hudson, NC or Crossroads Ministries in Lenoir, NC. Online condolences can be sent to the Williford family at www.evansfuneralservice.com. Evans Funeral Service & Crematory of Lenoir are serving the Williford family. PDF Printable Version
