Marvin Wayne Barlow

Lenoir, NC- Marvin Wayne Barlow, age 89, of the Kings Creek Community, died Monday, August 18, 2014 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care in Lenoir.Born July 6, 1925 in Caldwell County, Mr. Barlow was the husband of the late Mary Dean Icenhour Barlow and the son of the late William Jasper and Hattie Laney Barlow. Other than his wife and parents, Mr. Barlow is preceded in death by two daughters, Linda Kay Barlow and Debra Faye Barlow. Mr. Barlow served in the United States Navy during World War II during the Normandy invasion.He was a member of Kings Creek Baptist Church and a founding member of Kings Creek Ruritan Club.He was also a founding member of the Kings Creek Fire Department, where he served on the board for more than 20 years. Mr. Barlow is survived by his children, Timothy Dean Barlow and wife Donna of Lenoir; Lisa Barlow Rich of the home; Ronald Wayne Barlow of Bulls Gap, TN; 6 Grandchildren, Adrienne Barlow Childres and husband Chris of Lenoir; Keisha Barlow Coley of Hickory; Kelli Barlow DiMatteo and husband Pete of Hudson; Kent Barlow and wife Jessica of Morrisville; William Rich and fiancée Casey Payne of Lenoir; Katie Barlow and fiancé Dalton Luster of Lenoir; and 6 Great-Grandchildren, Shea Childres of Lenoir, Keegan Coley of Hickory, Hunter Payne of Lenoir; Lanie and Maddie DiMatteo of Hudson and Abigayle Luckadoo of Gastonia. A celebration of Mr. Barlow’s life will be held 3:30 PM Thursday, August 21, 2014 at Kings Creek Baptist Church with Reverend Randy Goode officiating.Burial with Military Honors will follow in the Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:30 PM, prior to the service in the Church Sanctuary on Thursday, August 21, 2014. Pallbearers will be:Steve Johnson, Brent Jensen, Gwyn Icenhour, Doug Brookshire, Kenneth Teague and Steve Hedrick.
