Martha M. Waters

Lenoir, NC- Mrs. Martha M. Waters, age 89, of Broadway Street, died Thursday, September 07, 2006 in Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care. Born June 22, 1917 in Cleveland County, Mrs. Waters was a daughter of the late Harrison and Ethel Matheson Self and the wife of the late Lawrence William Waters. She was of the Baptist Faith and had worked in the furniture industry. She is survived by her daughter, Norma W. Wilson of Lenoir; two sons, Floyd Waters and wife Mary of Lenoir; Gary Lawrence Waters and wife Portia of Bangkok, Thailand; one sister, Ann Self Beach and husband Jim of Lenoir; 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Other than her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Hoke and Mildred Newton and her half-brother, Walter Scott, Jr. Funeral services for Mrs. Waters will be conducted 11:00 AM Saturday, September 9, 2006 at Poovey?s Chapel Baptist Church with Reverend Nicky Waters officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10 until 11 AM Saturday, one hour prior to the service at the church. Pallbearers will be: Bill White, Bob Hendson, Cyrus Hendson, Jerry Craig, Jacob Craig and Mark Wilson.
