Martha Stroupe Oxford

Martha Stroupe Oxford, age 83, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 22, 2023 at Amorem. She was born in Caldwell County on December 23, 1939 to the late Forrest and Gladys Bean Stroupe. She was married to Allen Oxford, of the residence, for 63 years.

Martha retired from the United States Postal Service, as a rural mail carrier, after 20 years of service. She graduated from Hudson High School in 1958 and after marrying Allen they moved to several different states before returning to Hudson upon their retirement. Martha was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She and Allen enjoyed traveling the entire United States, taking their camper to 49 of them. Some of her hobbies included, cross stitch, quilting, golf, and playing bridge.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Dennis Oxford and her sister, Joan.

Other than her husband, Martha is survived by her son, Mark Oxford; grandchildren, Erica and Adam; great-granddaughter, Sadie; and her sisters, Aileen Minton and Kathleen Miller.

A celebration of Martha’s life will be held at First Baptist Church Hudson on Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Mack Jarvis officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service at First Baptist Church of Whitnel Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 prior to the service.
