Lenoir, NC- Mr. Marshall Parks Clontz, age 82, of Lenoir, passed away on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at Caldwell UNC Healthcare. Born April 13, 1934 in Burke County, Parks was a son of the late, Marshall and Martha Barlow Clontz. He was a veteran of the United States Army and a member of the Bethel Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Max Clontz, Carl Clontz and Nestor Clontz; and one sister, Lois Ollis. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Jean A. Clontz; a daughter, Lisa Clontz; a son, Marshall Clontz, wife Stephanie; two granddaughters, Katie Eckard and Alyssa Hefner; a grandson, Cameron Clontz; a sister, Ira Absher; he is also survived by numerous other family members. A celebration of Parks’ life will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2016 at Bethel Baptist Church in Morganton at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with military honors provided by the Caldwell County Veterans Honor Guard and North Carolina National Guard. Serving as pallbearers will be Harley Clontz, Bruce Absher, Kevin Absher, Brad Anderson, Brad Clontz, Tommy Watson and Cameron Clontz. Honorary pallbearers will be the former Reserve Deputies of the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Department. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM prior to the service.
